My Nighttime Strategy

There are two main questions that mothers have regarding cloth diapers. Will they leak? And, will they last through the night?

I can only speak for the first four months. So far, I haven't had any leaks. (Okay, okay. Once I had a leak. But I was trying to cut corners and use a Pocket Diaper without an insert as a cover. Actually, I use pocket diapers all the time as covers at night... but there must be an insert inside.)

As for night time diapering, I think one of the main things is to keep baby's bottom dry. My favorite nighttime remedy is a microfiber insert or doubler. They hold a lot of moisture without feeling so damp against the skin.

I use a microfiber soaker/insert/doubler with the Kissaluv fitted (cotton or cotton/hemp) and a diaper cover. That combination is usually strong enough to get through the night.

Right now Harper Love is not eating solid foods... so we'll have to see if our nighttime routine changes with baby's diet.

My Favorite Part of Motherhood

Four months into the game, changing diapers is one of my favorite parts of motherhood. Strange, huh?

Everyone said, "Just wait, once you start changing diapers, you won't be so thrilled." So far they were wrong. I really enjoy changing my daughter's diapers. Especially the poopies.

So this is my blog dedicated to cloth diapers which are some of the greatest things ever created. They are great for the environment, great for the baby and great for the wallet. (Coming from a mommy who is broke-broke, I definitely think that breast-feeding and cloth diapers are the least expensive way to go.)

Every cloth diapering mommy has to find their own strategy. Do you prefer flats or pre-folds? Do you prefer sized pocket diapers or one-sized diapers? Which diapers do you prefer during the day? Which diapers do you prefer at night?

For me, it has be a pleasureable journey. (I know, I know. Trust me, five years ago I would have never guessed that I would be typing this blog.) So if you are a green-mommy who is concerned about the planet, or if you are a broke-broke mommy who is concerned about the pocket-book, cloth diapering is the route for you.
